    Destroyer 95

Why does GA start the Destroyer series with #95?

I discovered GA books a couple of months ago, in particular, the Deathland series. Since I discovered the first book on the internet newsgroups, I have bought all the Deathlands books up through #16. I plan to continue doing so, but am also a big fan of the Remo Williams movie which is tinsel town's version of Destroyer. Regardless, I'd love to collect the Destroyer series from GA, but I don't want to start in the middle of the series. I'd want to start with the first book.

Anyway, I'd like to know if there's a rights issue or did they just start with the most currently released book or what?

     Thanks

Yeah, it's a publishing rights issue with the film industry. The rights for books #1-94 are not available for dramatized audio performances. Destroyer 95 (High Priestess) is a great one to start with. I did the post production on that title a few years ago... alot of fun. Most of the books should be self contained stories, so you can start listening to the series with almost any title. There are a couple trilogies and continuing story lines in some books. Thanks for interest!

I, too, would rather have had the series start at Graphic Audio with #1 but that isn't possible at this time due to reasons explained by Voltage. I would like to let you and anyone else that is considering listening to the series know that 95 is a good place to start. The authors put some back story into each book so you get a feel for who Remo is and where he came from. The history of Sinanju is given briefly in each book, also. Someone who had never heard of Remo in any form, book, comics, or movie, could pick up a Graphic Audio version of The Destroyer and sit back and enjoy a great story. I have read all of the book multiple times and pretty much know everything that is going to happen but I still enjoy the books as done by the good folks at Graphic Audio.

As the film industry rights are usually 20-25 years, and this is 20 years since Remo Williams was released, do you think there would be a possibility of obtaining the rights in the future?

I think this is a fairly new contract so we probably have a long wait before a company like GA could do audio dramas of the early Destroyer books.
