    Perdition Valley.. The End..

Okay, I know that some of the Deathlands books are abridged but the ending of Perdition Valley really has me confused.

In the book, the companions are standing around wondering where the egg shaped wag went, then Lilly disapears.  Then it goes to the bit with Sterling and Rogan.  Finally, Lilly adopts a daughter and heads to Twoson ville (as predicted by the mutie baron) and takes the name Emily Tanner.

    The End.

In the end of the GA version, there are two more time agents Melphi and Nelphi?  and they are talking about the mess Delphi made and how they have to help reclaim the time line.

Am I on bad drugs or something? Was this anywhere in the book? I don't recall it!

    Anyone help?

    Re: Perdition Valley.. The End..

Book 76 Perdition Valley is not abridged. It is 6 CD's I don't believe GA ever abridged this particular book. It ends with Melphi and Kelphi giving us a clue of what is to come. I have 77 78 and 79 but not 80 or 81. But in those three Melphi and kelphi do not appear. But basically Delphi's mess was their( Operation Coldfire) attempt to get Doc Theo Tanner back in the past and correct what went wrong. Basically, what is happenening here and it hints at it in a few other books but don't think it ever comes out and straight says it in Deathlands but also leads into that subject in Outlanders 25 and also in #10. (Listen to 8 and 9 also for the complete story).  From memory without going back and relistening to them book 10 is the more detailed on the subject.
Col. Thrush (Yeah I know a bird colonel with the name of a bird haha) reveals that the Arcon Directive is fake and that because of Chronus's medling with the time line that alternate event horizons are created. So when Doc Tanner was pushed into the future it created an alternate time line and the Nuke Caust which was not suppose to happen happened. Now in Deathlands it appears that 3 now 2 cyborgs from Coldfire are attempting to correct  the alternate event horizon.

Now if the books stay true to its time line(whats revealed in Outlanders) this is impossible. The technology has built in safe guards to prevent people from the "future" from going back into their own past. See Outlanders 4 for details.

Good Luck hope this helps some

    Re: Perdition Valley.. The End..

    Thanks for the answer.

I can tell you that in this book they left out the part about Lilly adopting the baby and freeing the slaves and heading to Twoson ville.  Thats what left me scratching my head. Why throw in something that is not even in the book but leave out a part that is?

I guess I have to go back and re-read the Outlanders books then. I tried listening to the Outlanders GA series from book #1, but just couldn't get into them. I just didn't like the voices at all. Domi's especially.  So the Melphi and Kelphi seen are in OL 25?

I knew about parallel universes and such, from what I can recall of Col. Thrush, etc.  I also know they've dabbeled with it in DL, with Shadow World and Breaththrough.

I will have to read Desert Kings (current book) to see if Melphi and Kelphi (and Delphi) make an appearance.

    Again, thanks!

    Re: Perdition Valley.. The End..

No Melphi and Kelphi are not in the Outlanders books but it goes into some detail as you know in a few Deathlands books about the alternate event horizon theories. It seems from them that Tanner is a focal point into the creation of the Deathlands. What roles Melphi and Kelphi have to play and I bet they would have to lose they're quest remains to be seen. Since if they can send Tanner back then the Deathlands would sease to exist and the Outlanders would never happen.

Thats strange you don't like Outlanders I got into the Deathlands series because of the Outlanders. Of course I started with GA and its predecessor companies because of titles they nolonger own rights to and that is a same because some of them were really good.

I don't like the GA Outlanders that I have heard, but I do like reading the books. Its just something about the voices which doesn't go with the characters.

Me too. The only voice I had a problem with was Sindri's, but I got used to it. Domi's voice is kind of irritating, I agree. I love Lakesh's voice, though.

As for the time-travel situation in the "Axlerverse", Mark Ellis laid it out in several classic OL novels--Omega Path, Tomb of Time and Talon and Fang...and to a lesser extent, Satan's Seed.

Omega Path and the DL novel, Dark Emblem both deal with the time-travel...those are the two books with the famous "crossover" showing the same scene from different points of view.

    Re: Perdition Valley.. The End..

Well I'm going to have to try and find some of the GA OL titles and give them another shot. I've only listened to the 1st one so maybe they've changed some of the voices over the series (like they did in DL).

Yeah Dark Emblem was a great book.. So was Omega Path..

Nope voices are all the same but Domi isn't in or a major part of many of them. I think she reminds me alot of Jax. But then again Cain is like ryan and Grant JB and Bridgette is alot like Mildred so they fit to gether real well

"Kane" is like Ryan with an IQ boost and a sense of humor....Grant and JB aren't anything alike that I can see."Brigid" isn't like Mildred either...DeFore is more like Mildred since she's a doctor.

Brigid is more of a blend between Samantha Carter and Daniel Jackson. Col. Shepherd from Stargate Atlantis is the closest character to Kane IMO.

Brigid reminds me of Scully from the X-Files, she is definitely the brains in the Outlanders crew, but Kane doesn't really come off having all that high of an IQ.  He's got a lot of guts and heart and Grant is the muscle, but Ryan combines all three I think.  Of course none of them come close to Mack Bolan, who is the ultimate soldier or Remo Williams who is the ultimate killer.

Isn't Shepherd is a little too physically small to make a good Kane?

They are all apples and oranges anyway.  Other than having the same house name on the cover Outlanders and Deathlands are as many worlds apart as they are with Mack Bolan, Rogue Angel, etc.

    Re: Perdition Valley.. The End..

Judging by the DL books I've read, if Ryan can't stab or shoot his way out of a situation, he's pretty clueless.

Kane is very much the military tactician, relying on his wits just as much as guns.

I agree that Shepherd is a little too small to be Kane...I always picture Hugh Jackman. wolverine

What a surprise, Dan thinks Kane is more groovy than Ryan!

You haven't read enough Deathlands then, Ryan always has a plan!

Mixed with his unstoppable natural combat skills he's unstoppable!

Clueless?  Hardly!  But arguing over which hero has more savvy is kinda silly...

    Waddaya mean?

The greatest debates of our time have begun about Kirk and Picard!Big Smile

Actually, I've read enough DL books to know that most of plots of the villains are pretty simple so it doesn't take a genius to outwit 'em.
