Fans of Deathlands - a new listener

    Hello eveyrone.

I started out reading Outlanders about six months ago and am up to number 11 (I don't want to listen to 16 until they produce the ones in the muddle in order to avoid confusion.) I took a listen to Deathlands 1 last night and really enjoyed the overall story. I didn't find the characters as compelling as those in outlanders so far, but it's only the first book. My big question is this: I see that there are absolutely tons of these books. I was wondering, is the series as a whole worth reading? Does the quality of the writing and the storytelling remain constant? I know there are a numbe rof different authors writing the series, and so I am really concerned about that. There are tons of these books as I say, and I want to make sure they're worth it.

    Thanks in advance,

    Remy

Hello Remy_C, I would have to say YES... I am totally addicted to Deathlands...The charactors/Actors are THE best I've ever heard, in any audio book...Although a backround on most of the charactors is rehashed in every book, it seems. I find the stories to be always interesting and entertaining...I must have close to every one of em(1-28...46-79 missing only a few in between 46-79) 30-40something haven't been made yet...I've been listening to them for about 5 months now...I purchased my first one( #16) at a truck stop, just to check it out...well, that was where it started for me...I've never read any of the books before I heard the audiobooks, but I am NOW a loyal fan...Just MY opinion though...

Make It Quick...Before I Burn You...Ya Mu tee Scum...

BTW, I realize Airborn is Misspelled :)

I'm glad to hear that. I heard that some of the books later on really fall short - those written by other authors than the original. Apparently Mark Ellis (Outlanders creator) contribution to the series picked the story back up. I'm glad to hear that recaps of characters happen in each book though, since graphic audio hasn't done them all yet. I know with some of the other serieses (primarily Stony man/exicutioner/Mac Boland (not even really sure what the differences between the three are), and the destroyer, all start really late in the series. A bit donting when you want to start a series.

    Thanks for the reply.
