I agree wholeheartedly, but like it's been stated: They haven't been selling well. From what I've seen on my end, just having added nearly a hundred titles to the library I work at, the Mack Bolan/Stony Man's circulate a little bit, but I personally feel that Action Adventure is an often ignored genre by critics and folks alike. You can't beat the kick-ass front covers for these audiobooks. They're so eye-catching! I wonder if people who aren't familiar with the Executioner think he's just some dumb Rambo clone. Would they be surprised to know that this character has had more longevity than most any other character in modern fiction today...except for maybe James Bond. MB is 40 this year for crying out loud! Where was James Patterson and John Grisham and Janet Evanovich (real popular authors at my library) in 1969 when Mack was kicking butt and taking names?
The ones that have been flying off our shelves are the First Mountain Man and the Eagles audiobooks. The older folks love their westerns. The ones that have been bombing, and I'm really surprised...are the Deathlands and Outlanders. Haven't gotten around to reading the Outlanders yet, but I think the Deathlands is an intriguing story. Maybe people feel they have enough negativity in their lives that they don't feel they need to listen to a series about a brutal, raw image of a nuke-blasted future. What else can Post-apocalyptic plotlines be? Fun and sun? Wine and roses?
Well, the next shipment the library is going to get is going to include Serrano Legacy, Deathstalker, DC Comics and Last Gunfighter, along with more Mack Bolan and Stony Man. I forsee the SF/Fantasy genre is probably going to be a decent circulating item, and all the comic book fanatics can slobber all over the Justice League audios.
Even if no more Mack Bolan audios get produced right now, I'm forever grateful to GA for giving me these stories as a "Movie in My Mind", because I doubt if the Executioner will ever make it to the big screen...if it does, it will probably be butchered, or it will be straight-to-video.
Anyway, my little rant is done.
