    Question about a Deathlands-Outlanders 1 Scene Crossover

I get my audiobooks in out of order sequence in various travel centers.  I just finished listening to Deathlands 43 (Dark Emblem).  When Doc Tanner was bouncing around the timestream thanks to Dr. Janiveaux (spelling?), it appears he ended up for a moment in Cerebus redoubt looking at Cain, Grant, Babtiste and Lakesh.  Did I get that right?  If it was, is the same scene also in one of the "Outlanders" books?

I don't have many of the "Outlanders" books in print or audio, but this has piqued my attention.

I believe the crossover took place in Outlanders 4 Omega Path, LOL, if I am wrong somebody will correct me. It was really cool. I have to say, that scene is what sparked my interest in ordering Outlanders and I have not regretted it. I actually enjoy the series as much as Deathlands to my surprise. I would recommend starting at the first one though to prevent any confusion that a few people have experienced. Personally, I would like to see more crossovers but it will most likely not happen. Hope you enjoy it, if you pick them up.

I have quite a few from the old DH Audio days. However, those were abridged, and I don't recall that scene. I will try to keep an eye out for that in the truck stops. Right now, I don't have the funds to buy the CD versions or download. However, the TA's are clearing out the cassette audios for $4.99 (2 for $9.50), and when I have the time (and better software), I will convert them to mp3 (takes 45 to 50 minutes to convert 30 minutes of audio). Hopefully, I can start downloading soon.

I was going to start downloading the books about 7 months ago, but an IRS audit stopped that. Ick!

Yes, it was. Omega Path. That's way back when Terry Colins (he wrote Dark Emblem) was writing for Deathlands and there was still continuity to the series. Yes, Doc Tanner encountered Kane, Baptiste, and Lakesh in a brief mat trans mishap. Mark created Silas Jamaisvous as the villian. Omega Path actually came out several months before Dark Emblem.

As for future cross overs, don't hold your breath. There is nothing in the works for the next several years, at least until Mark's done writing the series, and someone else will write for it.

As you probably know both series go in there own seperate direction. In fact after Outlanders 10 or 11 if memory serves me right without going back and trying to listen again I cant think of Ryan or anything about Deathlands being mentioned.

I can't think of too many direct DL references in OL anyway...the most direct was that crossover scene in OL Omega Path and DL Dark Emblem and when the Cerberus crew found War Wag One in Iceblood. That's about all I remember. There may be more but they would have slipped past me because I wasn't much of a DL reader.

You have most of them. The use WarWag1 to whoop up on Cobalt's Mags in #8 and there are references to the Wyette Codex in several of them also. But that does the cross over stuff after that they go on their own.

Actually it was in book #10, Outer Darkness that Kane, Grant and Domi used the war wag (now called 'Titano') to whip up on the Cobaltville Mags. Great scene, both in the novel and in the audiobook!Big Smile

Thanks I have It but trying to keep every book in its proper sequence and location in my head is impossible.

I didn't get it at the time. I remember the same scene in the Deathlands book. There have been a couple of other instances in later books.

The interesting thing to me is this: in the Outlanders background, during the Unification, the Barons wiped out all of the independant free groups except for the Ryan Cawdor Companions. That's explicitly stated. In fact, I think it was what Lakesh built his Preservationist cover-story from. It's in the first or second Outlander book. Look it up. Ryan and his companions escaped. Where did they go?

My guess is they did a chron-jump and will end up at Cerberus sometime.

    Wouldn't that be fun?
