Rogue Angel Comic Books in 2008

"Annja Creed's comic book adventures begin Febuary 2008 in a monthly five-part miniseries from IDW Publishing. Rogue Angel: Teller of Tall Tales will then be collected in a trade paperback collection of all fives issues releasing in September 2008."

Re: Rogue Angel Comic Books in 2008

    You know, to be blunt?

    This really ticks me off.

    Why?

Because, it's been published for less than 2 years now. For the most part the series has been painfully dull (see my review in this particular forum for my full view on it), and I honestly don't believe it deserves a comic.

Two series that Gold Eagle publishes do - Deathlands, mainly because it's been around for twenty years, and of course Outlanders, because it's superior in every way, shape and form.

But no- GE spends a ton of cash on promoting Rogue Angel and now they do this.

You do realize of course that it's all a test. They want to see how well the 5 issues sell, and you can bet your bottom dollar that if it does well, they'll work out a contract for another mini series or possibly a full series.

To me, it doesn't deserve it. Maybe if they took to heart some of my suggestions it would be worth while, but the odds of that happening are about the odds a snowball stands to last in the fires of hell.

I have to agree about it seeming a bit slow it is dulled down from deathlands and I love that series but I like it because its based more on suspence and to tell you the truth i am glad from a break in all the description of blood.

I did not know about the comics till read this but as i just joined and this was the first posting I read lol.

As for how it does we shall just have to see but again i agree i would think they would make deathlands a comic first.

I think that they are going with Rogue Angel because it premiered so well at Wizard Con. I just shake my head at Rogue Angel, I really, really want to like it and some of them are good, but there is just something missing. I suspect it actually might do better as a comic, less need for backround or a world to put the characters in.

I think you may be right MacsGirl. In comic form it'll probably play to RA's strengths which in my opinion are Annja and the action scenes. I suppose we'll all just have to wait and see.

I've read the first issue and have to say it was pretty good, but a little short...the art was good and the story was GREAT!

I got the last issue of this comic on the weekend. I'll read the entire series from cover to cover and post a final review on it.

But, like the executioner comic, looks like any further series for Rogue Angel are pretty much not going to happen. But, this is second hand information and it isn't always reliable.

I look forward to your review for this series I purchased the Trade Paperback, but I will have to wait till September to read it. Honestly same goes for Executioner even though I purchased the individual comics I am waiting for this Trade Paperback as well. I personally prefer to read a limited series all at once rather than in bits.

One question I have for those who have read it was this story taken from one of the novels (Or from bit and pieces of a few.) or is it a new one. If it is new is there any talk GA might be producing this?

It's a new story, one that wasn't done in the novels... Although they did rehash a bit of the first novel so that new readers to the comic would understand Annja's origin.

Both of the series story wise have been outstanding!  The Executioner is a near perfect transition from prose to comics page.  The RA story has a lot of neat twists and turns and really surprised me a couple of times.

The art on the other hand was very good, but not up to the standard of the paperback covers.

Comics are usually too much of a mixture of words and art as opposed to novels, so I think it would be a little hard for GA to adapt these.

That is a good point, but it would be cool if GA could collaborate with IDW and Gold Eagle to make like a one shot similar to the way Power Records followed the comic story line. Then release it packaged with the Trade Paperback or sold separately.
