    Bridging the Gap

Okay, so I finished Will Murray's run with #107, Feast Or Famine, and it was ... eh ... and I ordered #111, which was much better than I remember it being when I initially read it upon its original release.  I figured I'd just skip #108-110 since they're generally regarded as poor and were pretty much banished from Destroyer continuity. And yet ... there are several lingering questions from #107, and I want to know if I need to pick up one or more of the three missing from my collection in order to answer them: What happened to Jean Rice?  Why did Chiun hire the housekeeper?  What became of Castle Sinanju?  Thanks for any and all help here.

Those questions are not answered in the terrible trio of 108-110 but they are answered in a novella entitled False Starts and Bitter Ends which is included in a book called Assassin's Handbook 2 which is available at www.warrenmurphy.com and at http://tinyurl.com/2yp88t

In addition to the novella there is a lot of other great Destroyer stuff in the book.

As an additional comment, books 108-110 are well done by Graphic Audio but the books themselves are terrible Destroyer books in my opinion.

Thanks for the info.  I'll have to check that book out now.

On a somewhat related note, I just finished #111, and man, I'd forgotte how good James Mullaney's Destroyer books were, especially compared to Murray's.  Sorry if I offend some readers, but I just find his entries that I've read so far (95-107) to be overpadded, meandering stories which tend to lose any suspense in a sea of characters, tangents and sudden out-of-nowhere plot revelations (and not out-of-nowhere in a good way).  The GA productions are excellent, but the books themselves ... okay at best.  Even this first entry of Mullaney's is a breath of fresh air.  I just ordered the new Destroyers (Guardian Angel and CHoke HOld) and now I'm *really* looking forward to reading them.

I think most of Destroyer fandom felt that same way back wnen Mullaney took over. That's way I have been chomping at the bit gor GA to get to the Mullaney Destroyers. If GA could make weak Destroyers sound better then how great will good books sound?

BTW, Guardian Angel and Choke are very good books. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did or evenmore if that is possible.
