Re: The First Mountain Man - Preview

My wife and I just finished listening the The First Mountain Man on the way home from our Thanksgiving trip. It was great. I had read this author before and this series was recommended to me so when GA released the first book I had to check it out. It was one of the best entries I have purchased and that's saying a lot. I will definitely be a follower of this series as I am of The Destroyer and Deathlands. Great job, folks!

Hey,VF mountain man was ok,but what happen to preacher as a youngman?  We know that he spent time with the older jamie mcalster (aka grandpa) an helped out jamie an kate when they needed help the most an got them to Texas? So what happen ?  Yes I want to hear more of preacher but in the first book he is already  35 years old an we know he was already a mountain man at a very young age.

Now that the series has been out for a while, I'd be interested to know what you folks think. I'm biased, of course, because I did the script adaptions for #2, #3, and #4.

#3, The First Mountain Man - Absaroka Ambush is my personal favorite of all of the series I've worked on. I love hearing what the cast does with the script and found myself laughing out loud listening to it, even though I know darn well what's coming. ^_^

Re: The First Mountain Man - Preview

Finally broke down and bought The First Mountain Man wasn't sure I would like it or not but do have to admit I do like the Eagles series so..... Anyway to get down to the jest of this in reviewing it yesterday. Bravos and Kudos. The book is well done living up to every expectation I have come to require from graphic audio and your predecessor companies listen and live, cutting audio, forget 3rd and now graphic audio. The book is Captivating and Spins a well versed tail that found me ignoring calls from my wife last night and not calling her back(No Cell Service LOL :)) Just dont tell her that little white lie wasnt true. Boos: I had expected the series to start from the beinning of Preachers life in the Mountain from the point he left his old home and journeyed to the mountains. Least thats what I got from the title.

I haven't heard the first one, but I can tell you that through the next three books, you learn far more about Preacher and his origins. Especially when a certain Government Man lets Preacher know that he has investigated his past. This series unfolds Preacher's life rather than just laying it all out at the git-go and I appreciate that sort of thing. Plot-driven, treasure hunts of information have always intrigued me.

Yeah, The Last Gunfighter is in our upcoming schedule.

The Last Gunfighter 1: The Drifter
    Available July 2008

Once, Frank Morgan had a wife and a future on the land—until a rich man with a grudge drove him out of Colorado. Since then, Morgan's taken up the one skill that always came easy—gunfighting—and drifted to a mining town in the New Mexico Territory. But there's nothing easy about two vicious gangs descending on the town and threatening to wreak havoc. With his reputation preceding him, Morgan is elected to stand in the outlaws' way. And with nothing left to lose, he's the last man who will ever back down…

    The Last Gunfighter 2: Reprisal
    Available August 2008

Frank Morgan rides with a brace of six guns, a reputation for knowing how to use them, and a private score he´s vowed to settle. Known on the frontier as The Drifter, Morgan has come to Colorado in pursuit of the hombres who killed the only woman he ever loved. But two vicious outlaw gangs are running roughshod over the territory in a stampede of murder, robbery, and rape. And now they've made an enemy of Frank Morgan—taking his own son hostage. Suddenly, one against one hundred makes for even odds. Because Frank Morgan is a man who has forgotten how to fear—and he's getting more dangerous every day…

The Last Gunfighter 3: Ghost Valley
    Available September 2008

Outlaws have taken Frank Logan's son, and with all the good gunfighting men either dead or dying, Logan knows he'll be riding after the kidnappers alone. But just as he gets close to the men he's hunting, he comes upon a ghost town nestled into a Rocky Mountain valley. For Logan, the mystery of what happened to the town—and of a deadly spirit that haunts it—has to take second fiddle to what's brought him this far. Determined to free his son, he'll lure his enemies to this godforsaken place, where amidst the ghosts, the gunfighters, and the gunsmoke, he'll make sure the killing is real.
