    Single or Multi-part Production

Hey GraphicAudio, what drives the decision to create a book in single or multi-part layout.  While all of the books I've listened to so far have been excellent, the multi-part books seem to be particularly engaging.  Elantris, Blue Moon, Serrano, etc. all seem to have a bit more development in them and just don't seem as rushed as say something like Rogue Angel.  Their production quality just seems better.  I love RA, but I start to feel like they're a little too abridged.  I personally would much rather buy a two-(or three)-parter to extend the depth of the story and characters.

It depends on who is directing the project.  Once we start a series, we try to keep the structure the same.  Rogue Angel books are typically shorter in length than the other books you have mentioned.  Thanks for the comments.  We'll keep that in mind as we start other series.

First of all, I would like to say how much I enjoy these great productions. I am the kind of customer that enjoys getting new books and downloads them as soon as they are released. Is it possible for Multi-part Productions to be released closer together, or wait and release them when the succession is completed? I understand this is totally not possible for the Demon Wars Saga or the Serrano Legacy, but I was referring to The Survivalist Mid-Wake's Part's 1 & 2. Because of the long time period between releases, I found myself feeling mildly irritated. The story was so good and done so well that the cliff hanger between books had the full effect that I am sure you all were hoping for. At first, I thought that this might not be a standard procedure, but if I am not mistaken, I believe that you released all three Parts of the Warbreaker Series within only a few weeks, with the first two parts I believe almost in succession, when they were set to be released a month a part for all three. I know that this small potatoes, but I just thought that you all would like to see different perspectives from a fan's point of view.

    Thanks.

That's a great point Traveller.  I have not yet been in the position to purchase a part when the subsequent parts were not yet available.  I can certainly understand where that would be quite disturbing, especially considering the nature of the cuts from pt X to pt Y (very abrupt).  Knowing how the transition works, I think I would wait at least until the subsequent parts are soon to be available.  I would have to agree that releasing early and having to wait too long for the followup would probably just make me angry.

Maybe they could be put out as a single release that carried a premium due to the length...

I must agree with you that it is a pain to wait for the next release....but in the LONG run it is worth it.
